How Winslow Windows & Doors Came to Pompano Beach

When we opened our doors in Pompano Beach in 2011, we weren’t starting from scratch. Winslow Windows & Doors was already an established brand with a reputation for doing things the right way. What we were doing was bringing that standard to a market that desperately needed it.

Ed Winslow spent months driving the corridors of Broward County before we ever took our first local job. He’d park near Sample Road and watch roofing crews work, then drive down to Lighthouse Point and talk with homeowners at their mailboxes. What he kept hearing was the same story: people felt burned. A homeowner in Coral Springs showed him a window that had been installed two years prior, already fogging between the panes. Another in Deerfield Beach had paid for impact glass and received something that wouldn’t have passed a basic inspection. The work was out there. The trust wasn’t.

So when the Pompano Beach branch opened, the promise was simple and specific: we’d bring the Winslow standard to every job, from a single window replacement in Margate to a full-home retrofit in Boca Raton. No bait pricing. No pressure tactics. Just straight answers, real product options like PGT and CGI, and work we’d be proud to put our name on.

A decade and a half later, that’s still the whole philosophy. The branch grew because local homeowners told their neighbors. A job well done in Tamarac led to a referral in Coconut Creek. A clean install in Oakland Park turned into a call from North Lauderdale. That’s how we’ve always wanted it to work.

Ed Winslow’s Personal Connection to the Windows & Doors Trade

Ed Winslow didn’t fall into this trade by accident. He fell into it by asking too many questions.

Years before this Pompano Beach location existed, Ed was working on a house in South Florida and kept noticing the same thing over and over: windows and doors were treated like an afterthought. Builders slapped in whatever was cheapest. Homeowners didn’t know what they didn’t know. And when something failed, which it always did eventually in this humidity and salt air, nobody wanted to take responsibility.

What hooked him was the moment a job stopped being a transaction and became a craft. He remembers the first time he watched a seasoned installer set a large picture window into an opening that wasn’t perfectly square. The man didn’t force it. He didn’t shim it sloppy and caulk over the gaps. He took his time, worked the frame, checked his levels twice, and when he was done the window sat in that wall like it had grown there. Ed thought, “That’s the difference. That’s what people are actually paying for, whether they know it or not.”

He’s carried that moment for the entire ride since. The trade is technical, sure. You have to understand structural openings, fastener schedules, thermal expansion, water management, impact ratings. But the part that keeps him in it after all these years is simpler than that. It’s the homeowner who stands at their new front door and just pauses for a second, because the light coming through is different than it’s ever been. It’s the older couple in Lauderdale-by-the-Sea who can finally sleep through a summer thunderstorm because the new windows actually seal. It’s knowing that what we put in someone’s home today will still be doing its job when their kids are old enough to notice.

If Ed weren’t doing this, he’d probably be restoring something. An old boat, a tired house, a piece of furniture someone gave up on. The instinct is the same: take what’s broken or worn out, understand it, and make it right.

Meet Ed Winslow - The Person Behind Every Job

Ed Winslow is the Owner and Founder of this Pompano Beach location of Winslow Windows & Doors, and he’s been working in the Florida window and door trade since long before the branch opened here in 2011. His background is in hands-on installation and service work, not in a corporate boardroom, and that’s where his credibility with local homeowners comes from.

Ed has spent his career learning the products, the installation methods, the failure modes, and the fixes. He knows which impact systems hold up on oceanfront properties in Lauderdale-by-the-Sea and which vinyl lines make sense for inland homes in Margate or Tamarac. He can walk into a 1960s ranch in Pompano Beach and tell you within minutes whether the original windows are worth saving or need to go.

He’s also the kind of person who will tell you if a repair is the right call instead of a replacement, even when the replacement would be the easier sale. That matters in this trade. Ed lives and works by a simple rule: treat every home like his own, and give every homeowner the same information he’d want if the roles were reversed.

Our Promise to Pompano Beach Homeowners

Honest pricing means you get a written, line-item estimate before any work begins, and the price doesn’t quietly change once the job starts. We’ve seen too many homeowners get a lowball verbal quote over the phone, then get hit with “unexpected” add-ons after the old window is already out of the wall. That doesn’t happen with us.

Quality parts means we don’t substitute a cheaper product to pad our margin. When we quote a PGT, ViewLux, or CGI line, that’s what goes in your home. Period.

Standing behind every job means if something isn’t right after the install, you call us and we make it right. No chasing a subcontractor. No phone tag for six weeks. That’s the promise, and it’s backed by our workmanship warranty on every install.

Our Credentials

When you hire Winslow Windows & Doors in Pompano Beach, here’s what you can expect from a qualifications standpoint:

  • State-licensed: Every pro working under our name is required to hold the license their state requires for window and door work. We take that requirement seriously.
  • Insured & bonded: The same goes for insurance and bonding, which every homeowner should insist on before letting anyone work on their home.
  • Years of local experience: This branch has been serving Broward County since 2011, and the local team knows the climate, the housing stock, and the permit offices.
  • Strong local reputation: Our Pompano Beach branch has grown almost entirely through referrals from homeowners in the surrounding cities.

Why does all of that matter to you as a homeowner? Because the person standing in your living room, taking out your old windows and putting in new ones, is working inside your biggest investment. You deserve to know they’re qualified, protected, and accountable. Those credentials aren’t paperwork. They’re the difference between a job done right and a problem you’ll be dealing with for years.

Rooted in Pompano Beach

You don’t serve this area for fifteen years without becoming part of it. We see our customers at the Winn-Dixie on Atlantic Boulevard and at the greenmarket in the winter. We’ve driven down Dixie Highway more times than we can count, from Pompano Beach down through Oakland Park and into Fort Lauderdale. This isn’t just our service area. It’s our home.
