CGI Window Replacement: The Pompano Beach Owner’s Guide

If you have a CGI window with a failed sash, broken balance, fogged glass, or a locking mechanism that no longer engages, we stock the CGI-compatible components on our trucks to get it working again. Replacement for the most common CGI window parts in Pompano Beach typically runs between $180 and $550 installed, depending on whether it’s a balance, roller, lock set, or complete insulated glass unit. Most homeowners first notice the problem when a window that once glided open now takes two hands and a hip check, or when the room starts feeling warmer than it should because the seal has finally given up.

Call (904) 893-3309

We’re an independent service provider, not a CGI factory outlet. That means we’ll tell you straight whether the part is still covered under CGI’s own warranty before you spend a dollar with us. Ed Winslow has been running installs across Broward County long enough to know that a CGI product deserves a CGI-serious fix, not a generic part that sort of fits. That’s the difference between a window that works again and a window you’ll be fussing with every rainy season.

Which CGI Models This Applies To

Most of the Pompano Beach homes we service run the CGI Estate Collection, Estate Impact, or the Sentinel series, though we also routinely work on the CGI Commercial line on condo buildings along the Intracoastal. The trick with CGI is that the hardware components are engineered to the frame series, not the glass type. So a balance from an Estate Impact window will not exchange cleanly into a Sentinel frame, even if the visible channel looks identical. We’ve had homeowners bring us parts they bought online that measured close, but close doesn’t survive hurricane season.

To identify the right part, look at the metal spacer between the glass panes for the etched CGI logo, then check the side jamb for a small white or silver sticker with the series name. If the sticker has faded under Pompano Beach sun, take a photo of the corner joint and the bottom shoe of the sash and we can usually identify the series from that. On OEM versus aftermarket, we default to OEM CGI hardware for anything load-bearing: balances, hinges, and lock sets. For cosmetic items like sash pulls or weep-hole covers, a quality aftermarket equivalent works fine and saves you a few dollars.

Signs Your CGI Window Replacement Is Failing

  • Window drops or slams shut when you let go. The block-and-tackle balance or constant-force spring has lost tension. On Florida windows, the salt air accelerates the internal coil corrosion long before the glass shows any problem.
  • The sash won’t stay locked or the latch spins without catching. CGI multi-point locks have small hardened-steel hooks at the top and bottom of the sash. In a coastal city like Pompano Beach, the internal springs on those hooks seize with salt and grit over time, leaving the window able to close but not seal against wind pressure.
  • Persistent fog between the glass panes that never clears. That’s the Desiccant Seal System inside the insulated glass unit losing its charge. The dual-pane seal has failed, and now every humid afternoon is pulling moisture into the airspace. The window still protects, but the view looks like the inside of a shower door.
  • You can push the window frame in and out against the rough opening. The fasteners through the frame into the buck have loosened, or the original install used undersized screws. On a CGI impact window this isn’t just annoying, it means the load path that transfers force from the glass to the concrete is compromised.
  • Visible rust trails running from the corner hardware or the roller track. Brackish air from the Intracoastal and the constant humidity are brutal on plated steel hardware. Once you see rust staining, the internal mechanism is usually one season away from locking up entirely.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

In Pompano Beach, a straight parts-plus-labor replacement runs like this:

  • Balance or spring replacement: $180-$260 per sash
  • Lock set or latch hardware: $140-$220 per window
  • Roller housing and track repair: $160-$250 per sash
  • Insulated glass unit replacement: $380-$550 per panel, depending on glass size and Low-E coating
  • Full sash replacement with OEM CGI hardware: $420-$650 per sash

Every quote is written, line-itemed, and fixed: the price we quote is the price you pay. No change orders because we discovered the rough opening was framed oddly. No surprise trip fees if you’re in our home service area. And every repair is backed by the 36500-Day Done Right Promise, which works like this: if it’s not done right, Winslow makes it right, period. Ed Winslow’s name is on the invoice, and he treats that more seriously than any manufacturer’s tag ever will.

DIY or Call Us?

You can safely inspect a few things yourself before you call. Check whether the window frame moves when you press on it from outside. Look at the sash corners for cracking or shiny metal where paint has worn off and metal is rubbing. Clean the track and see if that restores smooth operation. Those checks are safe and free. What we don’t recommend is rebuilding the balance assembly on a CGI window yourself. The tension in a block-and-tackle balance, or the spring steel in a constant-force system, is under enough load that a single wrong move with a flathead screwdriver can send a part through the window glass or into your hand. It happens at least twice a season in South Florida, and it usually costs more to clean up than the repair would have.

If the window is fogging, binding, or won’t lock, call us at (904) 893-3309. A live person picks up, day or night, and we’ll tell you over the phone whether it sounds like a $180 fix or a $550 one.

What Neighbors Say About Winslow Windows & Doors

★★★★

"The installation was clean and the windows are beautiful. The factory took about six weeks to deliver the units, which Ed told me upfront, but living behind plywood-framed openings in the meantime still tested my patience."

GGuadalupe Zamorano
★★★★★

"Our insurance agent asked for the wind mitigation paperwork and Ed had the whole file ready the day the job closed, every opening photographed. The premium conversation went very differently this year."

OOdessa Fairbanks
★★★★★

"A tile roof repair and new windows from the same company meant one crew, one permit runner, and nobody blaming the other trade. Ed checked the roof work himself before the tarp came off."

HHenrietta Pemberton
★★★★★

"We sat out a hurricane behind the windows Ed put in. The gusts threw a neighbour's trampoline down the street and the loudest thing in our house was the kettle. I rang him after to say thank you and he answered his own phone, same as always."

TThaddeus Okonkwo
★★★★★

"Three big companies quoted us and every one sent a salesman with a leased truck. Ed turned up in a truck with his own name on the door, quoted less, and his crew were the same faces on day one and day nine."
